SACA Food Project

bagThe SACA Food Project is a revolutionary way to collect food. Neighborhood Coordinators enlist their neighbors to become donors to the SACA Food Pantry.  Neighbors donate a bag of food every two months. We supply the bag and coordinators pick up the food! This provides the SACA Food Pantry with a steady supply of food and gives the donors the satisfaction of making a real difference in the local community.

How the Food Project Works

It’s a simple system, built around two types of volunteers:

  • Neighborhood Coordinators (NCs) agree to organize a small group of their neighbors to become Donors. Their “neighborhood” can be a few houses, several blocks, their work place, or any group they want to coordinate.
  • Food Donors are neighbors who agree to give food every two months.

The NC gives Donors a reusable green Food Project bag and suggests that they buy one extra non-perishable grocery item each week.

Then every two months, NCs pick up each bag of food, leave an empty one, and bring the full bags to the SACA Food Pantry.

When is Pickup Day?

  • Pickup day is the 2nd Saturday of each EVEN month (February, April, June, August, October and December).
